Name: Paige Welborn
Class: Senior Concentration: Water Sciences Why fisheries and wildlife? I chose fisheries and wildlife because I have always had a passion for the outdoors and the way humans interact with the natural world around them. Studying the way humans interact with water has always been fascinating to me and being able to combine my love of science and nature has been the highlight of choosing Fisheries and Wildlife as my major and career path.

Class: Junior Concentration: Fisheries Biology and Management Why fisheries and wildlife? I’d like to think that Fisheries and Wildlife chose me. My freshman year I enrolled in a FW course as a means of filling some elective credits. However, much to my surprise, I quickly found myself hooked and by the end of the semester had changed my major. Since then, I have never regretted that decision. Whether I am in the classroom, a club meeting, or the field and lab, I’m always having a good time studying what I love. Being in this major has also given me the opportunity to become a part of an amazing community of students, faculty, and professionals. I wouldn't change it for the world! Genelle UhrigGenelle Uhrig, FW Club member and past Wildlife Research Committee Chair, is spending her summer as an intern with the William A. Demmer Scholars Program in Washington, D.C.! She will not only be working on her network, but will also be studying the intricacies of federal policy-making while working full-time as an intern with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
